Alakada! Bad and Boujee is the fifth movie in the popular Alakada series, which has been well-received for its comedic exploration of societal pressures and personal identity. In this movie, the central character Yetunde, played by Toyin Abraham Ajewole, is a young woman who struggles with feelings of inadequacy.
Yetunde’s solution to these insecurities is to fabricate elaborate stories about her social status, creating a false display of wealth and sophistication. These lies are a coping mechanism to fit in with her peers and to mask her true feelings of low self-worth. The film explores themes of self-image, social expectations, and the consequences of living inauthentically, all wrapped in humour and sharp wit.
