The highly anticipated return of the Man of Steel is set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025, with James Gunn at the helm. The new Superman film, titled “Superman: Legacy,” marks the beginning of a bold new chapter for the DC Universe under Gunn and Peter Safran’s leadership.

David Corenswet takes on the mantle of Superman, portraying a younger Clark Kent navigating the challenges of balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing in Smallville, Kansas. Rachel Brosnahan co-stars as the tenacious Lois Lane, while Nicholas Hoult steps into the shoes of the iconic villain, Lex Luthor.

“Superman: Legacy” will not only focus on Superman’s journey but also introduce several other DC superheroes, including Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. This expanded roster hints at a larger interconnected DC Universe that fans can look forward to in future projects.

A teaser trailer released on December 19, 2024, offers a glimpse into the film’s tone and storyline. The trailer showcases a vulnerable Superman, bloodied and battered, crashing into a snowy landscape as he relies on his loyal dog, Krypto, for support. This emotional portrayal emphasizes Superman’s humanity and his role as a symbol of hope and resilience.
