South Korean actress Kim Sae-Ron was found dead in her Seoul apartment on Sunday, at the age of 24, nearly two years after stepping away from the spotlight following a drunk driving conviction.

A friend discovered her body, and while police have stated there were no indications of foul play, investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of her death.

Kim began her career in childhood and earned widespread acclaim, including recognition at the Cannes Film Festival, for her role in the 2009 film A Brand New Life, where she played an orphaned girl.

Her subsequent roles included the 2010 action film The Man from Nowhere, the 2012 mystery The Neighbors, and the 2014 drama A Girl at My Door, among many others in both film and TV.

However, her career faced setbacks after an April 2023 ruling in which a Seoul court found her guilty of driving under the influence following a crash in 2022. She avoided jail time but was fined around $14,000. Kim’s final project was Netflix’s 2023 K-drama Bloodhounds.

Her Instagram remains active, with her last post from January, a photo that has garnered over 205,000 likes. Comments on the post are disabled.
