Paul Okoye Criticizes Nollywood Filmmakers Over Poor Editing Blunder

Lifestyle

Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, of recent criticized Nollywood filmmakers for poor editing in their productions. He shared a clip from a Nollywood movie on his Instagram story, pinpointing a glaring mistake where a crew member, specifically the sound technician holding a microphone, was clearly visible in the scene and was not edited out. Expressing his disappointment, Paul mocked the filmmakers for their lack of attention to detail before releasing the movie.

In the background of the shared video, Paul can be heard saying, “So una shoot video finish, edit am, even microphone man put inside the video. Please, just watch. Please, tell me, who’s this person? Hahaha.”

This kind of criticism isn’t new, but it does highlight the ongoing conversation about quality control in Nollywood. While the industry has made great strides in cinematography, storytelling, and special effects, occasional slip-ups like this remind everyone that there’s still room for improvement—especially in post-production editing.

Paul Okoye’s reaction is understandable, given that such mistakes can pull viewers out of the story and affect the overall credibility of Nollywood films. At the same time, it’s worth noting that Nollywood filmmakers often work with tight budgets and fast production schedules, which can sometimes lead to oversights.

Do you think this criticism will push Nollywood towards stricter quality control, or do you feel that such mistakes are just inevitable in a fast-growing industry?
