“Mokalik” has been a commercial success in Nigerian cinemas. As reported by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), the film grossed 42 million Naira within just five weeks of release, marking it as one of the most successful Nollywood films of 2019. The film’s success demonstrates a growing interest in Nollywood films that tackle real-world issues with relatability and authenticity.

 

Simi (singer and actress) plays the role of Olumide, a character that introduces Ponmile to the world of mechanics, demonstrating her ability to blend her music career with Nollywood.

Fathia Balogun plays Oluwaseun, Ponmile’s caring mother, who is concerned about her son’s future and his decision to explore a new path.

Femi Adebayo stars as Durojaiye, a mechanic and mentor figure to Ponmile, offering guidance in the world of tools and trades.

Ayo Adesanya plays Kemi, Ponmile’s aunt, who also weighs in on his choices regarding his future.

Charles Okocha, Lateef Adedimeji, and Dayo Akinpele add depth to the ensemble, contributing their unique performances to the narrative.

 

With its engaging plot and powerful performances, “Mokalik” offers a heartfelt and eye-opening portrayal of social mobility, class differences, and the value of hard work.
