Toyin Abraham’s film “Malaika” was released in Nigerian cinemas on December 22, 2023. The movie has achieved significant success, grossing over N300 million and becoming her highest-grossing film to date.
However, in early January 2024, “Malaika” was pirated and distributed on platforms like Telegram, causing distress to Abraham and leading to panic attacks that required hospitalization. She invested nearly N500 million in the production and has been actively combating piracy to protect her work and the broader entertainment industry.
Despite these challenges, “Malaika” continues to perform well in cinemas and is currently ranked as the ninth highest-grossing Nigerian film of all time.
The good news is that she just announced on Instagram that Malaika will be showing on Circuitstreams come 21st February, 2025 and it will be global.
