Heart Eyes is an upcoming romantic comedy-slash-slasher film, directed by Josh Ruben. The film blends slasher horror with romantic comedy, creating a unique twist on the usual Valentine’s Day fare.
Set on Valentine’s Day, Heart Eyes follows two co-workers, Ally (Olivia Holt) and Jay (Mason Gooding), who are working late in the office. During their routine tasks, they are mistakenly identified as a romantic couple by the Heart Eyes Killer, a mysterious figure obsessed with love and romance.
As the night unfolds, Ally and Jay must navigate their survival while avoiding the killer. Amid the chaos, their relationship grows, revealing their differing views on love, fate, and each other. The movie cleverly blends humor, horror, and romance, bringing a fresh perspective to the genre.
Produced by Spyglass Media Group in collaboration with Sony Pictures Releasing, Heart Eyes was filmed in New Zealand during the summer of 2024. The screenplay was written by Phillip Murphy, Christopher Landon, and Michael Kennedy.
Heart Eyes is scheduled for a theatrical release on February 7, 2025, just before Valentine’s Day. It will also be available for digital purchase and streaming on select platforms after its theater run.
