“Forgetting June” is a Nigerian romantic drama directed by Ikechukwu Onyeka. The film explores the complexities of love, grief, and identity through the lens of a couple whose perfect life is shattered by a tragic accident.

 

The story follows Eddie (Majid Michel) and June (Mbong Amata), a seemingly perfect couple deeply in love. Their world is turned upside down when June is involved in a fatal car accident. In the aftermath, Eddie is consumed by grief and despair, believing that his wife is gone forever. During this difficult period, Eddie grows closer to June’s best friend, Tobi (Beverly Naya), who offers him comfort and emotional support. As Eddie begins to heal, he starts a relationship with Tobi, attempting to move on with his life.

 

However, the plot takes a dramatic twist when Eddie discovers that June is, in fact, alive. She has survived the accident but suffers from amnesia, unable to remember the life she once shared with Eddie. As June regains her memory and grapples with the emotional and psychological consequences of her memory loss, Eddie is faced with an emotionally complex situation. Torn between his past with June and his present relationship with Tobi, Eddie must navigate the intricacies of love, loyalty, and the challenges of rebuilding his life and relationships.

 

The film features strong performances from the cast, including Majid Michel as Eddie, who portrays the heartbroken husband struggling with loss and guilt, and Mbong Amata as June, who brings depth to the character of a woman attempting to reclaim her identity after an overwhelming tragedy. Beverly Naya plays Tobi, who finds herself in a delicate position as she offers support to Eddie while also dealing with her own feelings. The film also stars Blossom Chuks Chukwujekwu as George and Ben Touitou as Tony.
