Aníkúlápó: Rise of the Spectre is a six-episode sequel series to Anikulapo, the highly praised 2022 Nigerian film by director and producer Kunle Afolayan.

The new series continues the story of Saro, the central character from the film, and delves deeper into the world of Yoruba folklore, forbidden love, and supernatural events in the Oyo Empire during the seventeenth century.

The series brings back key actors from the film, including Kunle Remi, Taiwo Hassan, and Bimbo Ademoye, while introducing new characters and subplots to expand the narrative.

Saro, having faced the repercussions of his past actions, is portrayed as a man still entangled in his old habits, always seeking new ways to manipulate situations to his advantage.

His journey is marked by an encounter with otherworldly forces that promise to reshape his fate, weaving elements of Yoruba mysticism and spiritual intrigue into the story.

With Aníkúlápó: Rise of the Spectre, Afolayan continues his exploration of African culture and folklore while maintaining the atmospheric storytelling that captivated audiences in the first film.

The series offers a fresh chapter in the epic tale, blending historical drama with supernatural suspense, and is a further testament to the growing international presence of Nollywood on platforms like Netflix.
