“Alakade” part 1 & 2: which should have been titled “The Great Pretender”

Starring Toyin Aimakhu, who played the role of Yetunde Animashaun, as an ensemble cast of campus personalities.

Plot Summary: Yetunde Animashaun is a young woman from a modest background, a university student who feels invisible in the social circles of the rich and powerful. Her family’s struggles and her humble upbringing weigh heavily on her, and she dreams of fitting in with the elite crowd on campus. Convinced that her worth is measured by the friends she keeps and the lifestyle she can afford to flaunt, Yetunde begins a hilarious and often absurd journey of pretending to be someone she’s not.

Armed with a talent for weaving wild tales and spinning elaborate lies, Yetunde manages to convince her new friends that she’s part of the wealthy elite, with a lifestyle full of designer clothes, expensive vacations, and celebrity connections. The more she lies, the deeper she digs herself into a web of deceit, drawing attention, jealousy, and admiration from the campus crowd. Her charming lies make her the talk of the town, but they also attract the scrutiny of people who aren’t easily fooled.

But amidst all the chaos, Yetunde’s journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance takes an unexpected turn. Through her antics, she starts to realise that true confidence doesn’t come from pretending to be someone you’re not but from embracing who you are.
