Nollywood actress Idia Aisien is set to make her stage debut in the upcoming theatrical production “Dear Father,” premiering in London in June 2025. The play focuses on themes of love, sacrifice, and the role of fathers in protecting their daughters
With Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) returning to the London stage after nearly 40 years and a cast featuring Kunle Remi, Tobi Bakre, Ronke Oshodi-Oke, Akin Lewis, Mike Edwards, Oluwaseun Ola, and Tomi Ojo, this production is bound to make an impact. The fact that it’s adapted from The SUMI Writers’ Àtẹ́wọ́ Collection also adds an extra layer of depth, given the catalogue’s three-decade development.
Aisien expressed her excitement on Instagram, stating, “BIG NEWS ALERT!!! I’m going to be in my first stage play and it’s in London with some of the biggest names in Nollywood!”
“Dear Father” tells the story of Nike, a daughter who begins to question the sacrifices her father made for her, highlighting the complex father-daughter dynamic and shedding light on pressing social issues.
The play is scheduled to premiere in London in June 2025, with exact dates and venue details to be announced.
This stage debut marks a significant milestone in Aisien’s career, showcasing her versatility as an actress and her commitment to engaging with socially relevant narratives.
